Daniel Lacalle
Daniel Lacalle was born in Madrid, in 1967. He holds a PhD in Economics (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), the title of Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA), with a post graduate degree in IESE (Universidad de Navarra) and a master’s degree in Economic Investigation (Universidad Católica de Valencia).
He is a professor at IE Business School, Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (IEB) and the UNED. He has also taught at the London School of Economics, Escuela AFI, and in the Masters MEMFI at the UNED.
Lacalle is member of the advisory board of the Rafael del Pino Foundation and is Commissioner of the Community of Madrid in London.
He has more than 24 years of experience in the energy and finance sectors, including experience in North Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. He is currently a fund manager.
He was ranked as one of the top 20 most influential economists in the world under Richtopia’s ranking (2016). During four years in a row he was voted within the Top 3 managers in both Oil & Gas, and Utilities categories according to Thomson Reuters’ Extel Survey.
Lacalle is author of the best-selling books Life In The Financial Markets, The Energy World Is Flat (with Diego Parrilla), and Escape From the Central Bank Trap.
He is a regular collaborator with CNBC, El Español, Hedgeye and The Wall Street Journal. He is also a lecturer at the London School of Economics, the UNED and IE Business School.
